Everything is surprising on schedule. For some reason, I would have thought we would have been behind schedule by now. There are a few things that are little off schedule (exterior concrete, gas lines), but that not something that would hold other things up.
Besides the front porch, the exterior of the house is done (siding and trim). On the inside - electric and insulation are done and drywall up (still have to mud and tape).
A few updated pictures are in Flickr.
Side note... Looks like they are finally going to pave the road (no more bottoming out on the stone when going to see the house).

Moving Right Along
Things have been moving right along. A lot has happened in the past few weeks. The foundation went in, garage and basement floors were poured, and we pretty much have the first floor framed. The framing didn't start quite on time, but our CRM assured us they will finish on time.

It's Official, We've Started
Friday, July 18th was the official ground breaking, (no gold shovel or anything, just a big hole).
Another development is that we found out that we cannot put a fence in the backyard due to a storm water easement that takes up the entire backyard. Basically the flow of water from the top of the hill will come through our backyard (as well as everyone else on our side of the street). So, rather then fight the township and pay the $350 for a hearing, we are planning on installing an invisible fence. Hopefully Ash won't decide to run through it.

Breaking Ground
We had our pre-construction meeting yesterday. Basically, we went over everything... all of our choices, upgrades, plans, etc. I was impressed with how thorough our Customer Relations Manager (CRM) was. The meeting took about two hours and was definitely worth it in order to go over all the details.
We also received our "construction" key. We are allowed to go inside the house anytime (preferably after 4pm) to check on progress. Another great thing that came out of this meeting is our construction schedule. The dates are only target dates, but it has everything from breaking ground tomorrow until settlement on October 9th.

Moving
Well, it only took me a year to post again. I don't think anyone actually reads anything here, so this is mainly a way for me to keep track of our house selling / building progress.
You heard right, we are selling our house and building a new one. So far, the experience has been a pretty good one. The new development actually connects to our current one (we could literally walk there, it's right up the street).
We chose Keystone Custom Homes as our builder (sorry Sean :-)) and Century 21 Heritage as the realtor to sell our current house.
The process at Keystone is fairly painless, but just any other housing transaction, there is a ton of paperwork. So far, we have met with the agent, signed the builders agreement, mortgage application, picked out items out their Design Gallery, and visited the model about 20 times.
I think the thing I like the most about Keystone is the amount of attention/information they give you (although, being this is our first house building experience, I have nothing to compare it to). They clearly explain the process from signing the builders agreement to the 12 month warranty after the house is built.
So, I am going to do my best to keep this blog updated as much as possible with updates of our house selling / building experience.
Wish us luck!! More to follow...
